Analysis of Zero Draft Submissions
Stakeholder Forum has undertaken an analysis of the submissions to the UN. This analysis identifies the insights to be found in the Zero Draft submission documents by creating a database of 97 key terms relevant to Rio+20 and determine which organisations have expressed interest in these terms. Stakeholder Forum and Commonwealth Secretariat launch " A Pocket Guide to Sustainable Development Governace - Earth Summit 2012

On 20th - 22nd, June 2012, the UNCSD
will take place in Rio de Janeiro. Also
referred to as the Rio+20 or the Earth
Summit 2012 due to the initial conference
held in Rio in 1992, the objectives of the
Summit are: to secure renewed political commitment to sustainable development;
to assess progress towards internationally
agreed goals on sustainable development
and to address new and emerging
challenges. The Summit will also focus on
two specific themes: a green economy
in the context of poverty eradication and
sustainable development, and an
institutional framework for sustainable

Stakeholder Forum has set up this site as
an information hub to provide updates,
background information and analysis
towards Rio+20. It is intended this site will
also act as a platform to connect
organisations and stakeholders interested
in engaging in the preparatory process.

global efforts towards achieving sustain-
able development.

Stakeholder Forum with its partners have put together some suggestions, which we would like governments to consider as they take part in this session of Rio+20 and in preparation for their inputs to the 17th of February deadline. Global Transition 2012: Challenge PapersThe Challenge Paper themes have been selected to develop a clear perspective on the emerging priority areas for Rio+20 and include overarching theme papers addressing The Green Economy, as well as specific theme papers focussing on The Blue Economy, Energy, Food Security, Global trade, Global finance, Employment and skills, and Natural Capital. Venue: Herbert Smith, Exchange House, Primrose Street, Exchange Square, London EC2A 2HS.The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development – Rio+20 - is being jointly convened by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the Brazilian Government. The conference will seek to secure meaningful commitments on achieving sustainable development at the highest level, although it has already run into trouble with the preparations for the event marred by disagreement.
